With the economy like it has been the past decade, businesses and jobs are no longer permanent. Our parents and grandparents might have stayed at their jobs for 30 - 40 years, but today's worker cannot count on that kind of job security.
Businesses downsize. They lay off workers. They move to other countries. Sometimes companies close their doors permanently. It pays to have a Plan B or a second income that you control.
